TaroWorks is an offline mobile data collection and field operations management solution which empowers users with two-way data flow. Your mobile users can not only collect rich media like photos, signatures, and GPS coordinates, but can also access data from the database to help them do their jobs. For managers and external partners, TaroWorks comes with robust analytics features such as real-time reports and dashboards. With our integrated database in the cloud, you can track changes over time, enabling your organization to successfully manage the last mile.
Absolutely. TaroWorks can transform the way organizations manage, track and evaluate the impact of their remote programs. We offer the full library of Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) scorecards, with standard PPI reports and dashboards to monitor results by various categories, and over time. Combined with TaroWorks’ offline flexibility and cloud-based database, you can review key indicators from across your programs and countries all in one place. Collecting information in multiple languages? No worries, you can capture data in one language, and automatically report on that data in another.
In addition to robust data collection, TaroWorks can also empower your field staff with information, allowing them to have assigned regions (or schools, or hospitals), and access to existing information about those assignments. Users can also access resources like training videos, PDF guides, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets – all offline.
Yes, we use the term “survey” to refer to any data input form. That means you can use TaroWorks to collect anything from long surveys, to short transactional forms (i.e. a sales order form).
Absolutely. This is one of the advantages of being on the Salesforce platform. Assuming your data model is set up, you can create reports simply by selecting your data source, and what type of chart you’d like to use. There’s no coding or technical expertise required!
TaroWorks does not support sending or receiving SMS from mobile phones in the field. However, there are other apps available in the Salesforce platform that may provide this while working alongside TaroWorks. Please reach out to the TaroWorks team to discuss your requirements and we’ll be happy to suggest solutions.
Yes, Salesforce.com is the back-end database for TaroWorks. TaroWorks is completely integrated with Salesforce, which means that data flows directly from mobile devices to Salesforce, and vice versa. Using Salesforce provides users with all of its existing advantages, including the ability to create robust reports and dashboards, and integrate other apps. Also, since Salesforce is a cloud database, you don’t need to manage any hardware for your data storage.
TaroWorks requires Android devices for mobile users. We’ve found that Android phones and tablets are more readily available in the remote areas where our clients work. See additional device specifications on our support site.
This really depends on your field processes. Our clients use an even mix of smartphones and tablets. Here are some points to consider when deciding what’s best for your staff:
Not to worry! We’ve designed our tool to work without any programming needed, and indeed, we subscribe to the philosophy of using “clicks, not code.” Our user interface is drag and drop. We do suggest that there is someone dedicated to the deployment who is familiar with relational databases (i.e. Salesforce, Microsoft Access). If you don’t have this resource, TaroWorks can provide white-glove services to get everything set up for you, and provide training, so that you have a fully functioning database quickly. Please reach out to the TaroWorks team at hello@taroworks.org to find out more about the professional services we offer.
Deploying a new mobile data platform is oftentimes a large change for an organization. Here are the roles that our successful deployments have had. Note that a person can have multiple roles (or they could all be one person): Executive Sponsor: a senior manager who will use the TaroWorks data for their decision-making, and who communicates the importance of using mobile data to the organization. Field manager: Someone with day-to-day oversight of mobile users and their activities, who can manage the processes and any issues that may come up. Field officers: Individuals who will be using the Android devices in the field to complete their jobs. Technical staff: Someone who can act as the first line of troubleshooting if there are any issues. TaroWorks provides additional trainings for field staff, or trainers so they can be effective at troubleshooting.
Since each organization will have its own Salesforce.com instance, only that organization’s authorized users will have access to the information.
Salesforce.com has a very strict security policy. See Salesforce’s security certificate here. TaroWorks has passed the Salesforce security review, so data on the devices are secured to the highest standards. All TaroWorks data passed between the Salesforce back-end and the Android front-end (including the database, all data files, logs, credentials, etc.) are encrypted, and sent via a secure connection.
