TaroWorks is seeking a Technical Architect to lead the product and development team on complex feature design and drive code quality assurance. This includes Technical Design Reviews, periodic code reviews, resource assessments and scouting/research. Project Summary

This role is 100% internal. The technical architect will be occasionally could be required to join meetings outside of standard business hours. Our Product and development teams span the United States, Kenya and India.

This role has three main objectives:

  1. Advise on Technical Design
  1. Attend Bi-weekly Tech Leads Meeting on design of new features.
    • Attend Bi-weekly Product Meeting to discuss bug-fixes.
    • Review Technical Designs written by team leads and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Highlight any risk associated with the building of new features or bug fixes.
      1. Scalability
      1. Performance
      1. External Dependencies
    • For complex features, collaboratively design feature with Team Lead(s)
    • Identify Technical debt and prioritization recommendations
  2. Technical Research
    • Complete technical spikes researching topics that could be related but not limited to:
      1. 3rd party Software Selection
      1. Scouting Application Dependencies
      1. Development Operations
      1. Competitor Analysis (Technical)
    • Make design recommendations concerning the latest technologies and best practices in the marketplace.
    • Make DevOps recommendations concerning the latest technologies and best practices in the marketplace.
  3. Risk Mitigation
    • Periodic code review to confirm team is using best practices and identify areas of improvement.
    • Make recommendations on test cases for features designed.
    • Validate release test plan for appropriate code coverage.
    • When new resources are added to the development team, review resumes and interview resource to confirm sufficient skills.
    • Prevent technical debt where possible
    • Drive prioritization and approach to existing technical debt

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to grasp technical details and clearly present design options to product team
  • Empathy and understanding of our customer use cases in order to design features that would serve them well
  • Analytical skills to think through and identify risk
  • Ability to quickly internalize how a feature will work in the context of the greater application
  • Self-starter – can dive into our documentation and code base to gain an authority on the current state architecture
  • Strong communication skills and service-oriented attitude

Education and Experience

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 5 – 10 years working experience, with at least 3 years of development and 2 years guiding application architecture
  • Experience architecting a native Salesforce application
    • Successfully passed manual Salesforce AppExchange security review
  • Apex programming experience desirable
  • Experience with the Agile approach
  • English fluency both written and verbal
  • Experience with native Android applications desirable
  • Experience managing DevOps and QA automation desirable
  • Experience as a ScrumMaster a plus
