The Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia (FNC) is a nonprofit based in Colombia that supports the wellbeing of farmers throughout the rural countryside. They defend the rights of coffee growers both within the country and internationally to improve their quality of life and the sustainability of their farming methods. FNC and Nespresso have partnered in the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Coffee Program in Colombia, to work with coffee growers to strengthen sustainable coffee production.
Since FNC first launched in 1927, it has become one of the largest rural nonprofit organizations in the entire world, as they have a presence in every rural region of the country where farmers grow their coffee crops. As FNC represents over 500,000 families in Colombia who are dedicated to growing and distributing coffee internationally, they have a complex infrastructure that promotes collaboration and joint decision making to address growers’ interests and further improve the lives of themselves and their families.
So how will TaroWorks support their work? The FNC team will be using TaroWorks for offline tracking of coffee quality, as beans are harvested for Nespresso from over 150,000 farms throughout Colombia. The goal of this quality testing is to find ways to improve coffee quality and therefore farmer revenue over time.
To keep track of how FNC will improve their Colombian operations this harvest period, feel free to follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn in the coming weeks and months for updates!
