We’re very pleased to announce that we have a new member of the TaroWorks family: Sistema Biobolsa.
They are a social and environmental impact business that produces, distributes, installs, and maintains Sistema Biobolsa, an award winning, high quality biodigester system designed for small and medium farmers. The company also manages an internal finance fund, carbon offset assets, and works closely with IRRI-Mexico, a non-profit partner, that focuses on education and research. They operate in over 20 Mexican states as well as in Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Haiti, with further Latin American expansion pending.
The company was formed in 2010 and started commercial operations in January 2011. The team has been working on the project for over 7 years from a non-profit platform. Their expertise is in biogas technology, sustainable development, appropriate technology transfer, financing, and marketing.
They have 3 key areas of focus:
1) Biodigestors: manufacturing and distribution
2) Education, capacity-building, and follow-up methodology
3) Financing strategy
Esther Altorfer, Finance Manager at Sistema Biobolsa, told us how they plan to use TaroWorks:
“Sistema Biobolsa is excited to get rid of paper and Excel in order to move into a 2.0 data collection and impact measurement era with TaroWorks!
Most of our operations in the Mexican countryside, where we work with smallholder farmers, include a data collection component, from the initial diagnosis of the clients’ need to the full monitoring services we provide and registration of carbon credits.
Data has always been a fundamental component of our activities and operations, and is key to measuring our impact and understanding how we operate. As we strive to constantly improve our operations, we believe TaroWorks will enable us to increase the quality of our client and impact data, while giving our technicians and office staff the opportunity to become more efficient throughout the whole data management process.
At the end of the day, TaroWorks will allow us to better serve our clients and provide broader access to our waste-to-energy solution, improving the living standards of thousands of smallholder farmers in Mexico and Central America over the next years.”
